  • Paul Knox – Leaving United Way.  New United Way Director hired.
  • Sam Bovard - Happy that relatives in Florida are safe after hurricane.  Going to be a grandfather - expecting a girl in January.
  • Don Chalmers - Recently purchased a small sailboat and would welcome a chance to sail with other Rotarians
  • Jim Larson – Had a successful event called “The Ride.” Thanked Rotarians whose businesses sponsored and supported the event.  The proceeds help high school students with special needs obtain employment.
  • Exchange Students Peggy and Eve – Happy events at school.
  • Nick Schmidt - “Save the Date” for an open house and community night at the Tumwater Area Boy Scouts Office - 10/26...more info to come.

Website, Social Media, and Clubrunner

Social Media Director, Jim Cooper, provided a stimulating tutorial on Clubrunner, Facebook (be sure to like our page) and our Website.

 

Polio Plus

Fred Adair, reminded Club Members that October 24th is World Polio Day. He also shared we are down to 10 global cases of polio (24 a year ago). Rotary International pledged another $50M which spurred Bill Gates for another $450M!

Program: Chuck Fowler introduced Austin Jenkins, from the Northwest News Network, and host of “Inside Olympia” on TVW.  
Mr. Jenkins provided wide-ranging insight on the most recent and longest (192 days) Legislative session. Topics included school funding, Supreme Court, Capital Budget, and the current partisan environment in Olympia.
