Program:  Homeless Children in Thurston County

Salvation Army at the Safeway in Tumwater and the westside of Olympia.  Dec. 12:  10 am – 6 pm.
Upcoming Programs:  The Thurston County Health Department will be presenting on COVID19 next week.  On Dec. 7, District Governor Greg Horn will be with us and we will be doing an induction.  Dec. 14, the Olympia Symphony will join with us and play about 45 minutes.

Burt Sarver, Founder and Chairman of Help Us Move In
He started the homeless children fund as part of Olympia First United Methodist Church.  They Have raised over $14 million and helped over 12,000 children.

Merritt Manor was opened.  It has 82 affordable housing units.  Merritt Manor is full.
Passionate about ending homelessness for children:
  1. Physical and mental health
  2. Developmental delays
  3. Emotional, behavioral, social
  4. Academic barriers
  5. Increased risks for the future
Some students sleep in cars or tents.  Some students couch surf from family to family.
It is hard to put learning first if you are worried about your family’s safety, where they will eat, or where they will sleep.
People often hide their children when they are homeless as they are afraid they may get in trouble with child protective services.
