Club Business: Grant Committee Awarded 7 grants two of which joined our meeting – South Puget Sound Community College for the newly formed Completion Fund (for students who need a little extra support to finish their degree). South Sound Roots Academy also received a grant to expand their offerings.
Program: Andy Haub, Water Resource Director, City of Olympia provided current thinking and response to sea level rise. The question has shifted from will the sea rise to how much and how soon. Budd Inlet and Deschutes river currently flood and is exacerbated by sea level rise.
The City of Olympia and the Port of Olympia are drafting a comprehensive response plan that protects the city’s resources. The response plan, complete with actions, costs and an implementation strategy is expected in the summer of 2018. For more information
